As part of the ongoing negotiations on the standardisation of terms and conditions, we have now achieved a collective agreement with Unison (under the auspices of Acas) on the introduction of new terms and conditions for Support Staff.
By standardising the terms and conditions, the University is able to ensure that all support staff are compensated fairly and equitably for the work they do, providing greater consistency and transparency. This will also ensure that we meet our legal obligation as an employer to operate equitably.
The new terms and conditions for Support Staff, which will come into effect from 1 August 2014, will include three years pay protection for those staff affected by the negotiated changes.
Managers are currently working with HR to ensure that there is a smooth transition to the revised contracts.
Staff employed under the Support Staff contract should address any questions they may have to their line manager in the first instance.
