New ULMS Director Appointed

The University’s Management School has a new director. Professor Michael McKenzie was appointed by a panel led by the Vice-Chancellor.

A professor of Finance, Michael came to the University in 2013 and was appointed interim director following Professor Murray Dalziel’s move to the US last year.

Prior to moving into academia, he worked in the private sector as a Treasury Analyst specialising in risk management.

Michael said: “I am extremely pleased to be appointed to the Director’s role in such a young and dynamic management school.  In a relatively short period of time, ULMS has established itself as a world-class research-led institution and I very much look forward to working with my colleagues to achieve even greater things in the future.”

EPVC for the Faculty of Humanities & Social Sciences, Professor Fiona Beveridge, added: “The appointment panel was impressed by Michael’s compelling vision for the School and his recognised ability to lead the School ‘to the next level’.

“The Management School has a central role to play in the University community and, as a University, we face considerable challenges in an uncertain external environment: it is important that we understand both the local and the University-wide issues as we shape our responses.”
