Chancellor of the Exchequer, George Osborne, has delivered his 2015 summer budget, which states that current maintenance grants for students with family incomes below £42,000 will be replaced by loans from September 2016.
It is anticipated that the loan amount will rise to £8,200 and be made available to all students regardless of family income. Repayments of the loan will start once the student is earning more than £21,000.

Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Education, Professor Gavin Brown, said: “Despite these widely anticipated changes, here at Liverpool our financial support package remains one of the more generous among our competitors, and indeed across the sector.
“The low cost of living and high quality of life our students enjoy at Liverpool also adds to the value of our student experience.”
At Liverpool, students from UK households with an income of less than £25,000 will be eligible for a Liverpool Bursary of £2,000 for each year of study. Students with household income between £25,001 and £42,620 are eligible for a Liverpool Bursary of £1,000 for each year of study.
