The proposed new LIC facility
The University and Kaplan have signed a new partnership agreement which will support Liverpool International College (LIC) for a further 15 years.
LIC recruits and prepares international students for entry into undergraduate and postgraduate programmes with courses in academic skills, key subject knowledge and English language.
Since it launched in 2007 with an original cohort of 80 students from 10 countries, LIC has grown to become one of the UK’s largest pathway colleges embedded in a university with more than 900 students from 52 countries enrolled on its courses in 2015/16.
To date, more than 3,500 students have progressed through LIC to the University and have graduated to successful careers in roles around the world, acting as great ambassadors for the University and the city.
The new partnership agreement covers a 15 year period which begins with the opening of a new world class facility being built for LIC on the edge of the University campus.
The recently announced purpose-built development, which is due to open in 2019, will provide 45,000 sq ft of modern teaching , learning and residential space in Liverpool’s new Knowledge Quarter. The facility will ensure that LIC is able to offer a high level of student experience which is necessary to compete for the best students from around the world.

“We will be celebrating 10 years of LIC next year and along with the development of LIC’s new world class facility, this makes for exciting times ahead for our partnership.”
