Ness Gardens to host The Big Picnic this Bank Holiday Monday

Join us at Ness this Bank Holiday Monday to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the gardens being gifted to the University for us all to enjoy! Bring a picnic and relax in the gardens with games and music until early evening.

This year we are celebrating the 70th anniversary of Lois Bulley gifting her father’s garden at Ness to the University of Liverpool for successive generations to come. The gardens have always been open to the public and when Lois’s father owned the gardens there were bowling greens, tennis courts and playing fields for use by visitors.

To celebrate this legacy, Ness has organised a relaxing but entertaining afternoon and early evening in the gardens for everyone to enjoy. Attractions include pony rides, Punch and Judy shows, football, tennis and music along with a Pop Vox choir.

The Big Picnic takes place on Monday, 27 August 1pm – 7pm.  The following normal garden admission prices apply:

  • University of Liverpool Staff and Students – £1
  • Family Tickets – £20
  • £7.50 Adults – £7.50
  • Children 5-16 – £3.50,
  • Children 4 & under – Free
