A collaborative agreement has been signed which will support and develop undergraduate engineering courses.
The University and the National Nuclear Laboratory (NNL), a nuclear technology services provider, will work together to develop joint projects in the area of nuclear engineering and measurement and analysis across a wide range of nuclear topics covering both fundamental and applied research as well as supporting education, skills and training activities.
Professor Ieuan Owen from the School of Engineering said: “The University is delighted to be partnering with NNL. Our strengths in Engineering and Nuclear Physics provide a good foundation to support the NNL and to underpin this vital technical base in the North West.”
The collaboration agreement coincides with the appointment of NNL’s Chief Engineer Richard Taylor, as a visiting professor at the University and Dr Simon Dumbill as NNL Research Fellow (Post Irradiation Examination) linked to the University.
