Dedicated centre opened for international students

The International Support Team

A dedicated area offering specialist advice and support for international and European students and their families has been opened in the Student Support Centre, thanks to a generous donation from the University’s Benefactor’s Fund.

The new facility offers a welcoming space where students can receive advice on practical issues such as visas, immigration law and getting around the city, as well as issues such as homesickness, safety and financial problems.

The aim is to help students from outside the UK to integrate into the country as easily as possible and to encourage UK and non-UK students to mix in a relaxed social environment.

The centre provides a one-stop-shop for international students to access support and guidance and to meet with specialist advisers.

The team held an open day to celebrate the new space and to raise awareness of the services to both staff and students.

Any department requiring advice or who wishes to collaborate on projects should contact Joanne Bainbridge Thompson, Senior International Student Advisor, on 46669 or email ist@liverpool.ac.uk
