Architectural talent rewarded with prestigious prize

Ocon award

Matthew with Managing Director Andy Barker

The annual School of Architecture awards ceremony has taken place for talented students on its master’s degree course.

For the first time this year the Campus Project Design award was sponsored by Ocon Construction, the firm currently building the Vine Court student accommodation scheme on Chatham Street.

Matthew O’Brien was the lucky recipient and was presented with his award by the Managing Director of Ocon, Andy Barker, at the School of Architecture.

Professor Andre Brown, Head of the School, said: “Every year our students are set a real-world project, usually by a major organisation within Liverpool, this year because of the campus development underway, the campus estates team set the design project and the results have demonstrated both considerable flair and commercial awareness from our students.”
