University of Liverpool to visit students in Turkey

University of Liverpool international officers will be in Turkey next month to talk to students from Istanbul, Izmir, and Ankara about opportunities to study in the UK.

The visit follows the recent announcement of a new collaboration between the University of Liverpool and Istanbul Bilgi University, which sees the first Yí–K-accredited dual degree programme launched between a Turkish and British university. The partnership will allow undergraduate students at Istanbul Bilgi to study at Liverpool during their final year of study, as well as graduate with a degree from both institutions.

Liverpool’s international team will travel to Turkey to take part in student exhibitions to give advice on degree programmes, accommodation, course and visa applications, and what to expect from living and studying in Liverpool. The exhibitions are open to students from across the country and will focus on degree courses open to applicants aiming to begin undergraduate or postgraduate studies in 2012.

Professor Michael Hoey, Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Internationalisation, said: “Liverpool has a vibrant international student environment and we are looking forward to welcoming our first intake of students from Istanbul Bilgi in 2013. The visit to Turkey in October will be a fantastic opportunity to meet talented young people from various parts of the country and offer them support in their future Higher Education careers.

“We aim to continue to strengthen our collaborations and research activity in Turkey. Our recent partnership with Istanbul Bilgi will allow us to provide students with a first class global educational experience.”

Students can learn more about the University of Liverpool at exhibitions taking place in Istanbul, Izmir, and Ankara from Monday, 10 October to Sunday, 16 October. For information about University events in Turkey, students should visit the Liverpool website.
