Frankie Owens public lecture

Frankie Owens’ account of life in prison won the 2011 Koestler platinum award

Award winning author and former criminal, Frankie Owens, will be giving a talk at the University of Liverpool about his time in prison, the book he wrote whilst he was inside and his views on restorative justice.

Frankie wrote The Little Book of Prison: A Beginner’s Guide  whilst he was in Winchester prison.  It is a candid and humorous view of life in prison which won the 2011 Koestler platinum award, judged by the author and comedian Will Self.

Frankie is currently in the middle of walking from John O’Groats to Land’s End to raise £10,000 for the Forgiveness Project and raise awareness of the concept of forgiveness in society.   His 62 day walk began on 1 September and he aims to arrive in Land’s End by 1 November t.

The Forgiveness Project is  a charity that explores, supports and encourages forgiveness through storytelling and education.

The lecture takes place at, 6pm, Friday, 5 October 2012 in the Univeristy’s Eleanor Rathbone Building
