Award for Politics lecturer Dr David Moon, a Lecturer in the Department of Politics, has been awarded the Sam Aaronovitch Memorial prize for best Local Economy article 2011. The paper, The problem of letting go: The ‘Big Society’, accountable governance and ‘the course of the decentralizing minister’ was co-authored with Professor Matthew Flinders from the University of Sheffield. The Local Economy is a peer-reviewed academic journal publishing papers on local economic development published by SAGE Publications in association with the Local Economy Policy Unit at London South Bank University. Sam Aaronovitch was a British economist, academic, working class intellectual and senior member of the Communist Party of Great Britain.
