Dr Elizabeth Sklar and Joanna Rozpedowski are aiming to make the most of their time in Liverpool
The University of Liverpool is welcoming this year’s Fulbright US Fellowships from America.
Joanna Rozpedowski, a PhD candidate and graduate teaching associate in the Department of Government & International Affairs at the University of South Florida, has been awarded a Fulbright US Student Scholarship.
Research
She is using her grant to study in the University of Liverpool’s School of Law and Social Justice, where she will research the impact and purpose of cosmopolitan jurisprudence in international relations.
Diana Maltz is a Professor of English Literature at Southern Oregon University and has been awarded a US-UK Fulbright Scholar Award for University staff. She will be affiliated with Liverpool’s School of English for the next year and will conduct research for her newest book project, ‘The Child in the House: Lifestyle Aestheticism, Visual Culture, and Family Identity, 1880-1910.’
Diana has published more than 20 articles in essay collections and journals, as well as her first book, ‘British Aestheticism and the Urban Working Classes, 1870-1900: Beauty for the People’ (Palgrave, 2006). She has also edited a Victorian novel, ‘A Child of the Jago’ (Broadview, 2013).
Dr Sklar is a Professor of Computer Science at the City University of New York and is currently pursuing research activities at Liverpool on coordination, human interaction and behaviour modeling in robot-assisted rescue environments. Her time at King’s College London will focus on modeling and intelligent interfaces for multi-sensor surgical devices.
Fulbright US Fellowships for students and university staff are awarded based on academic and professional achievement as well as leadership potential.

The personal and professional connections that l make during my Fulbright year in the UK are certain to enrich my intellectual sensibilities and leave a lasting imprint.”

Fulbright is the US government’s flagship international educational exchange programme and is designed to increase mutual understanding between the people of the United States and those of over 155 countries worldwide.

Since its establishment in 1946, the Programme has given approximately 318,000 students, scholars and teachers the opportunity to study, conduct research and exchange ideas across the world. 44 Fulbright alumni have so far been awarded the Nobel Prize and 78 have received the Pulitzer Prizes.
