Testing complete for new CORE HR system

The new CORE HR system is one step closer to launch today as the Project Board have signed off on the User Acceptance Testing (UAT) phase.

Set to be released in May, CORE HR is a self-service HR system that will automate the full spectrum of HR functions for University staff via a modern and intuitive interface. Individuals will be able to take control of their personal information and initiate their own HR processes, such as annual leave and expenses. Managers will be able to quickly manage leave requests, expense payments and sickness records, aided by a dashboard to support decision-making and facilitate the appropriate action.

Smooth transition

In preparation for a smooth transition into CORE HR, the UAT phase has seen the Project Team and staff from departments across the University, rigorously examining every angle of the system’s processes. Each function has been tested extensively to ensure the system is operating correctly and efficiently alongside other systems and the transition to CORE HR should cause minimal disruption for staff, with technical issues worked out in advance. UAT has also allowed the Project Team to take account of individual requirements for a personalised, staff-led service with informed and relevant support services in place.

CORE HR Project Manager Angela Hitchen says: “This is a very exciting stage of the project and the team has worked exceptionally hard to get us to this point. We are now focused on the go-live date in May and on implementing a HR system which will be beneficial to all.”

Migrating

Now that the UAT phase is complete, the next focus is on migrating the data to the new system. First, a clone of the tested UAT system will be used to create the live CORE HR environment. Then data will be taken from the existing system throughout March and used to populate the live CORE HR system, ready for the launch in May.

The HR Department and the CORE HR Project Team are working to keep you up-to-date with the latest CORE HR developments and would welcome your feedback.
