English Language Centre awarded British Council accreditation

The University of Liverpool’s English Language Centre (ELC) has attained British Council (BC) accreditation in recognition of the quality of its English language teaching and the support it provides to international students.

To meet the requirements of the British Council’s accreditation process, the ELC had to show that it had robust policies and procedures in place covering staff, welfare and student services, teaching and learning and resources and facilities.

Clive Newton, Director of the ELC, said: “British Council Accreditation means that prospective students can have absolute confidence in the quality of English language support that Liverpool’s ELC provides.

“British Council Accreditation will also give the ELC access to British Council marketing information and well as to market intelligence provided by the British Council’s partner in the scheme, English UK.”

The University’s ELC will also have a presence in British Council offices worldwide which will help promote the ELC and the University overseas.

The English Language Centre provides specialised language courses for international students who wish to study at the University.  It also provides free English language support for current students who wish to improve their English skills.
