Professor Solomon heads the Liverpool Brain Infections Group which studies major neurological infections in Asia, Africa and the UK. In the UK, the team works on improving outcomes of devastating infections such as meningitis and encephalitis, through the Brain Infections UK portfolio of studies.
Professor Solomon is also Director of the NIHR Health Protection Research Unit in Emerging and Zoonotic Infections, a collaboration between the University of Liverpool, Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine and Public Health England.
Professor Solomon said: “It is very rewarding to have our team’s work recognised in this way. I am looking forward to this new role joining the NIHR College of Senior Investigators, advising the Department of Health, and helping provide research leadership to the NIHR Faculty.”
