The University of Liverpool is launching its year-long pre-apprenticeship programme in partnership with Liverpool City Council and City of Liverpool College.
Launching in September 2015, it will support ten people, aged 16 and 17, who are not in employment, education or training, and live in the Liverpool City Area.
The programme has been designed to give individuals the opportunity to gain valuable skills and enhance their employability through paid work in areas such as administration, customer service, management and research support.
Improving employability skills
Successful applicants will attend City of Liverpool College to improve their employability skills, Maths and English. They will also undertake a NVQ in Customer Services whilst on placement at the University.
Steve Plant, who is leading the new initiative from the University’s Human Resources team, said: “In addition to the apprenticeships already offered at the University this is a great opportunity for young people hoping to get work experience and skills which will help them to progress into a career.”
The pre-apprenticeship programme will sit alongside the other initiatives already being run by the University to offer employment opportunities to local young people, including an internship programme, a graduate trainee programme and a full apprenticeship programme.
