More than 1000 students attend Postgraduate Researcher Week

Dr Suzi Gage, a PGR at the University of Bristol and a journalist at the Guardian, talks to students at the ‘Scientific Outreach to the Public’ session.

More than 1000 students attended last week’s Liverpool Doctoral College (LDC) Postgraduate Researcher Week.

The week had a full schedule of activities including welcome talks for new PhD students from the Vice-Chancellor Professor Janet Beer, and the Director of the Liverpool Doctoral College, Professor Graham Kemp.

Students were able to access a dedicated careers day run by the Careers and Employability service, information on the LDC Placements Scheme, campus tours, and a talk from alumnus Dr Eliot Forster, CEO of Immunocore, who is a former Liverpool PhD student.

Professor Graham Kemp said “This October’s Postgraduate Researcher Week was a great success with a record number of students attending. The event is the ideal opportunity for our postgraduate research students to meet up with others from across campus and share their experiences, whilst learning more about the training and development opportunities available at the University. The LDC is now in the process of organising the next Postgraduate Researcher Week in March, which we hope will be an even bigger success.”

The next Postgraduate Researcher Week will be held 20-24 March 2017.  For further details please visit: https://www.liverpool.ac.uk/doctoral-college/researcher-week/
