New Podcast – Help! Is my child a Psychopath?

Dr Luna Centifanti

Dr Luna Centifanti

Our latest podcast examines the emotional and social life of children with psychopathic traits and is now available to download, review and subscribe on iTunes, Tunein and Blubrry.

The world of the psychopath is still a mystery. Dr Luna Centifanti, Senior Lecturer and Research Tutor for the Doctorate in the University’s Clinical Psychology programme, has been researching the emotional world of people with psychopathy, and how that emotional world might develop from early childhood through to adolescence.

Psychopathy is among the most difficult disorders to spot as the psychopath can appear normal. Underneath, they have impaired empathy and remorse, and bold, disinhibited, egotistical traits. This makes them manipulative, volatile and often (not always) criminal.

‘Painting a picture’

In this podcast Dr Centifanti explores anecdotes, research, and personal experiences to help ‘paint a picture’ on what psychopaths feel and how they ‘read’ other people’s feelings. She also examines how their ‘bland’ emotional world might make it easy for them to take advantage of other people.

The podcasts aim to bring listeners closer to some of the academic experts, authors and innovative thinkers from the University who, through their in-depth analyses, research and discoveries are affecting positive change in the world today.

Each episode features one or more of our academic experts discussing research in their specialist field. The podcasts, which have been produced in collaboration with the University of Liverpool online programmes team, are intended to provide a quick route to insider knowledge on new trends and upcoming key issues.
