The University of Liverpool and Keele University have signed an agreement to foster collaborative work and provision of cutting-edge technology access between the two institutions.
The Memorandum of Understanding agreement Keele will enable researchers to access specialist facilities, associated equipment and expert staff across a range of biomedical science-related areas.
These facilities include high-end mass spectrometry-based proteomics and NMR metabolomics, confocal microscopy, and magnetic resonance imaging.
The signing took place at Keele University on Wednesday, 14 June, and was attended by Professor Jonathan Wastling, Pro Vice-Chancellor and Executive Dean for Natural Sciences at Keele University, and Professor Bob Burgoyne, Executive Pro-Vice-Chancellor for the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences at the University of Liverpool.
Professor Wastling said: “This agreement is already delivering tangible benefits to researchers at both Keele and Liverpool, with a number of recently funded projects being supported within the framework of this technology collaboration. We look forward to this acting as a catalyst for many exciting developments in the life and medical sciences in the coming years.”
Professor Burgoyne said: “This is an important event for Liverpool University, which highlights our strategy of working in partnership with key institutions across the wider region. Our Memorandum of Understanding with Keele addresses issues raised by the Wakeham Report, providing a sustainable regional resource-sharing model. This is the beginning of a longer story of how we can foster cross-site collaboration and opportunities.”
