Success for first phase of Student Record System Upgrade

The first phase of the Student Record System Upgrade has been successfully completed.

The work carried out earlier this week has updated the University’s Banner (SPIDER) software to the latest version of Banner 8.

John Cartwright, Director of Computing Services said: “This upgrade has laid the foundations for a project that will improve the experience of staff and students across the University. I’d like to thank staff for their support and patience during the upgrade.”

The second phase of the project next year will upgrade the system to Banner 9, implement added functionality and improve associated processes.

Professor Blair Grubb, Associate Pro-Vice Chancellor for Education said: “This project is much more than a technical upgrade, it’s an opportunity to design more effective and efficient processes around the Student Record System. We’ll be working with staff and students over the next two years to ensure we capitalise on this opportunity.”
