Layla Wright

Politics alumna, Layla Wright, was recently shortlisted for the Today Journalism Awards. Layla – who was one of the original members of the LSRadio Politics Hour team – received special commendation for The Today Programme Student Broadcaster Of The Year.

The Today Student Journalism Awards aims to champion new talent. It seeks students and publications that embody the BBC values of impartiality, trustworthiness and excellence, as well as those who have also shown that they can serve the needs and interests of a student audience.

Layla, who is currently working as a journalist with Radio City, said on Twitter that she was, “Really proud to have been shortlisted for Student Broadcaster of the Year.”

Politics Hour, run by Professor Stuart Wilks-Heeg, has been a resounding success, providing students with practical broadcast skills as well as building a strong community with the politics students. You can listen to the show on Wednesday (12:00-13:00) and find out more via the LSRadio website.
