Chinese New Year is just around the corner, and cu Chinese New Year is just around the corner, and current student Effy takes us on a journey through the long-standing connections between China and Liverpool 🌍 From historic trade routes and maritime links to the city’s vibrant Chinese community (which happens to be the oldest in Europe!), there’s so much history shaping Liverpool today. This year makes it even more special as we celebrate the 20th anniversary of our joint-venture university, @xjtlu. A wonderful reminder of the ongoing connections between our communities 🎊

Nouran, a current Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) student, reflects on the influence of her high school maths tutor - highlighting the importance and lasting impact of women in STEM. 👩‍🔬 Today, on the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, we celebrate the women who inspire, lead, and pave the way. 👏 Nouran chose to study Electrical and Electronic Engineering driven by her passion to give back to the community and develop solutions that improve lives. She believes STEM should be accessible to everyone, which is why she joined the Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Committee within her department. Through this work, she has seen firsthand how vital it is to encourage more women into engineering and ensure every student feels represented and supported. She has also co-founded the University EEE Socials Club, helping students build connections beyond the lecture theatre.
