The University of Liverpool Careers and Employability Team have received another national award following the delivery of an innovative business challenge.
The team were awarded the AGCAS Building Effective Partnerships Award 2019 alongside Newcastle University for the collaborative delivery of the Amsterdam Sustainable Business Challenge,
The challenge, which took place over three days in March, was a collaboration with Newcastle University as well as Vrjie and Groningen Universities in the Netherlands, and 16 high profile employers from both countries.
One hundred students took part in the challenge, following a competitive selection process. Hosted by Amsterdam Inbusiness, the intensive three-day event saw the students work together in cross-university teams to come up with a solution to a global business challenge. Evaluation of the event showed that students developed a broad range of employability skills through the initiative.
Joanne Poole from the University’s Careers & Employability Team said: “Opportunities like this are so valuable for our students. Not only does it develop their multidisciplinary and cross-culture team working skills, it also gives them an insight into some of the global issues being faced by businesses where young talent is needed to come up with innovative solutions. We were delighted to work alongside Amsterdam Inbusiness and be part of this challenge.”
Commenting on the award, the AGCAS Final Judging Panel said: “The multiplicity of partnerships and complexity of the partnership model made this project stand out. It has given students valuable, employability-focused new experiences.”
