Virtual events, activities and careers support available this week

Wherever you are spending the spring break, while we are still in lockdown, we know it can be tricky to find things to do to keep busy!

Each week we’re rounding up some of the best virtual events, activities and careers support you can access from home. Don’t forget to download the ‘My Liverpool’ app to view all events and create your own personalised planner.

1. Campus Tours

Campus shines in all seasons. From Abercromby Square to the Quad and the VGM to the Guild, get to know your campus home. Whether you’re looking for the perfect lunch spot, a new study space or the backdrop to your new Instagram post, get the inside scoop on our exclusive tour.

2. City Walking Tour

Explore some highlights of the city from the Bombed Out Church to the Baltic Triangle and discover more about your Liverpool home.

3. Games Careers Week

A free online festival taking place this week, bringing together some of the leading names in the sector to inspire students from every background and help you to discover career opportunities in the UK’s fastest growing creative industry – video games.

4. Chocolate Mindfulness by Transform Lives Company

Mindfulness and meditation are widely recognised as useful ways to manage stress. This session includes simple knowledge that will help get you started on mindfulness, and a guided practice that includes how to use chocolate to start your mindfulness approach. (bring chocolate of your choice).

5. Monthly Book Club Meeting: Book Society

We’ll be discussing the theme of “Women in STEM”, discussing Caroline Criado-Perez’s Invisible Women, in addition to doing some get to know each other ice breakers etc to welcome anyone who’s new to the society/ there for Give it a Go.

6. Documentary Making by iPhone

A new programme from Careers & Employability delivered by award winning TV producer Ged Clarke. Learn how to make a short documentary that can be broadcast online, on TV, or simply shown to potential employers.

7. Get fit with Sport Liverpool

Activities can still be accessed online, including the live streaming of our own classes as well as well as on-demand platforms from ‘ Wellbeats’ and ‘Les Mills’.

8. One Community, One Future Challenge

The Transform Society Challenge provides an opportunity on a project to benefit students, the University, and the local community. You’ll also learn about complex societal issues, make valuable connections, and develop the skills employers look for in future leaders.

10. River of Light Trail 2021

An outdoor illuminated art gallery is set to take over Liverpool’s world-famous waterfront.

Bringing together 11 stunning audio and visual installations, the trail across Liverpool’s iconic waterfront will open hours after the city stages a special online event reflecting on the impact a year of lockdown has had on Liverpool and its communities.

Please remember this attraction is for those who are local only due to national restrictions.

When: Running until Monday 5 April, 6PM – 10.30PM every night.
