Introducing Discover Week

This week, all new commuter students, mature learners, and students who have a disability, are invited to join the Discover programme – activity in advance of Welcome Week to give you a unique look into University life.

There are a number of online zoom events running today (see below for details) ahead of a special on-campus event running on Friday, 17 September.

Online events – Monday, 13 September

1. Discover Welcome: Focus on Disability, 10am  

If you are going to be starting university in September and you are a disabled student or a student who identifies as having a disability (whether or not you have disclosed this), we are here to support you. Join us for a webinar welcoming you to the University of Liverpool and focussing on the support and opportunities available to disabled students. Find out how you can make the most of your time at University and hear from the teams who can support you. This event will take place via Zoom webinar which means that you will not need to use your cameras or microphones. You can input questions via the Zoom Q&A function. This webinar is for new students joining the University in September, but returning students are also welcome to join. You can watch with supporters such as family members or friends if you choose to.

2. Discover Welcome: Focus on Mature Students, 12pm

If you’ll be starting at the University of Liverpool in September and will be over the age of 21 then you are a Mature Student! Join us for a webinar welcoming you to the University of Liverpool and focussing on the support and opportunities available to Mature students. Find out how you can make the most of your time at University and hear from the teams who can support you. This event will take place via Zoom webinar which means that you will not need to use your cameras or microphones. You can input questions via the Zoom Q&A function. This webinar is for new students joining the University in September, but returning students are also welcome to join.

3. Discover Welcome: Focus on Commuter Students, 2pm

If you’ll be starting at the University of Liverpool in September and will be living at home (travelling into university and not living with other students) then you are a Commuter Student! Join us for a webinar welcoming you to the University of Liverpool and focussing on the support and opportunities available to Commuter students. Find out how you can make the most of your time at University and hear from the teams who can support you. This event will take place via Zoom webinar which means that you will not need to use your cameras or microphones. You can input questions via the Zoom Q&A function. This webinar is for new students joining the University in September, but returning students are also welcome to join.

Discover Campus Day – Friday, 17 September

Join us on Friday, 17 September to meet fellow students and get a VIP preview of campus! This event is for students from the following groups who would like to meet other students and get to know campus before Welcome Week:

  • Mature students (undergraduates aged over 21 and new postgraduates aged over 25)
  • Commuter students (students who will not be living in halls or other student accommodation)
  • Disabled students

The day will start in the Mountford Hall in the Guild of Students just off University Square. There will be one session for each Faculty, at the following times:

  • Health and Life Sciences: 10am
  • Humanities and Social Sciences: 12 noon
  • Science and Engineering: 2pm

Schedule for the day 

  • Join us in the Mountford Hall (in the Guild of Students) to get to know your fellow students (approx. 45 mins)
  • Take a campus tour to find all the best places to know on campus (approx. 45 mins)
  • Return to the Guild of Students to meet university teams on the Guild Street and explore the Guild further.
