Together We Are Stronger: Covid-19 Safety on Campus

Our continuing priority is the safety and health of our students and staff and it is in this context that we have implemented a COVID Management Strategy for the start of term, that is deliberately cautious and which goes further than the minimum expectations conveyed in current, Government guidance. These measures will be kept under regular review and you will be informed promptly of any changes.

Things might look a little different whilst we prioritise our space to balance the interactive and social opportunities which make the Liverpool experience unique, with the safety of our university community.

We have worked hard to make sure our campus is COVID-secure, but we all have a part to play to make sure everybody on campus feels safe and welcome.

Face coverings

We all have a personal responsibility to help keep ourselves and our wider community safe. We are therefore maintaining the use of face-coverings in all indoor locations. All students will be required to wear a face covering within buildings on campus, including in teaching sessions, corridors and other communal areas.

If you cannot wear a face covering, we encourage you to wear a sunflower lanyard so that others are aware you are exempt from wearing one. Lanyards are available from Student Services in the Alsop building or can be purchased from Hidden Disabilities.

Testing

If you are regularly working or studying on campus you are required to take regular quick-results lateral flow tests. Students and staff who are on campus each week will need to access two ‘no symptoms’ lateral flow tests (approximately every three days).

This can be done using the University’s on-campus Lateral Flow testing servicecollecting home test kits, or using one of the SMART testing facilities in the city. All of these testing options are free. Please keep all the text messages and emails you receive from the NHS as a record of testing. We also expect you to download the NHS App and the details of your tests will be recorded in your Covid Pass.

If you have any symptoms suggestive of COVID-19, it is vitally important that you obtain a test and isolate until the result is known. Tests for people with symptoms of COVID-19 can be booked here.

If you are a fully vaccinated close contact of someone who has tested positive for Covid-19 you should book a PCR test. PCR tests can be booked here.

Social distancing

Social distancing is an important way in which we can reduce the risk of infection transmission within our community. Make sure you adhere to rules set out for physical teaching sessions and laboratories and try to maintain a suitable distance from others in indoor spaces.

Vaccinations

All adults in the UK are now eligible to receive their COVID-19 vaccination, and we encourage everyone in our community to accept a vaccination if offered one or book directly on the NHS website.

We will also be running vaccination drop-in sessions in the Stanley Theatre every fortnight from 6 October from 12noon to 4pm. There is no need to book for these sessions. Details of all drop-in sessions in Liverpool can be found on the CCG website.

Please note, international students studying in the UK are eligible for the vaccine while in the country. Please remember that you need to be registered with a GP before you can book a vaccination, or any medical treatment, so we encourage you to register as soon as possible if you haven’t already, to avoid potential delays.

You can find out more about vaccinations available for students on our webpages.
