Last week (7 June) saw the welcome return of the Faculty of Science and Engineering Poster Day.
At the event, postgraduate researchers from across the Faculty presented posters outlining their research and spent the day discussing their work with staff, students and visitors.
Visitors were asked to vote for their favourite posters, with winners selected from each of the Schools of Engineering, Physical Sciences, Environmental Sciences and EEE & CS, as well as one overall winning poster from across the Faculty. Winners were presented with a prize by the Faculty Director for Postgraduate Research, Professor James Cooper, who said “This was a wonderful event for showcasing all the excellent research that is conducted by our PGR community in the Faculty of Science & Engineering. The posters were a testament to the resilience of the PhD students to overcome the significant challenges they faced over the last couple of years, producing inspiring and impactful research. I particularly enjoyed seeing so many students getting to know each other from different Schools, making new connections that will hopefully last throughout their PhD journey and beyond.”
Approximately 80 posters were on display, illustrating the high quality of work taking place and the contribution postgraduate research makes to the overall University research portfolio.
Professor Simeon Yates, Associate Pro-Vice Chancellor for Research Environment and Postgraduate Research said ‘‘Poster Day is always a highlight in the PGR calendar, and it was exciting to return to an in person event after a 2 year break. The day was a huge success offering science and engineering PGRs the opportunity to showcase their research and demonstrate the important contributions they make to the University and wider research communities. It was great to see so many PGRs at the event, learning more about each other’s research in a friendly and supportive environment.”
The day was organised by Lyn Hughes from Liverpool Doctoral College with support from PGR Administrators from across the Faculty.
