Great British Gharana featuring Prabhat Rao – 5 October 1pm

Milap’s ‘Great British Gharana’* concert series features the UK’s own Indian music talents who are on a continuous quest to explore their unique identity and juxtaposition of Indian classical traditions and Western contemporary cultural influences.

Prabhat Rao, a highly accomplished classical singer from the Hindustani (North Indian) classical tradition will be presenting a selection of beautiful and poetic compositions alongside Pulkit Sharma on Tabla and Rishikesh Kardile on Harmonium.

The Liverpool Literary Lecture: In Conversation with Ann Cleeves – 7 October, 6.30pm

Join us for an evening with best-selling British crime writer, Ann Cleeves OBE, who will be discussing her prolific writing career with the University’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dame Janet Beer.

Author of more than 30 books, Ann is best-known for her Shetland and Vera Stanhope series which have been adapted into hit television series.

Northern Film Orchestra presents Frankenstein – Live! – 29 October, 7.30pm

Experience the iconic horror film based on Mary Shelley’s 1818 novel Frankenstein with live orchestra. The 1931 movie was produced without music, enter Michael Shapiro whose 70-minute haunting score performed by a chamber orchestra adds another dimension and emotional impact to the viewing experience.
