Green Guild Roof Garden

As COP 27 draws to a close, we look at some of the low-carbon and environmentally friendly activities and events that students can get involved with here in Liverpool over the next few weeks.

Guild green wall planting

Help prepare the Guild walk planter for winter iusing a range of Alpines, herbs and seasonal fruit and vegetables. The Sustainability Team are working to increase biodiverity and food growing on campus using wall pocket planters. So, if you are a keen gardener, or just fancy giving it a go, join us for a fun session of gardening.

Monday 14 November from 11am – 12pm. Meet at the Guild wall by the Bikioske outside the Mountford Entrance.

Herb pot planting at Philharmonic Court

Grow your own herbs as the Guild’s Sustainability Team show you how to plant (and most importantly keep alive) your very own herb pot for your kitchen window sill.

You will be provided with a kit consisting of a pot, compost and a choice of seeds and we will show you how to put them all together to grow the ultimate missing ingredient.

Come along and become the ultimate plant parent!

Guided bike ride

Wheel your way around your home away from home with Peloton for a night bike ride. With bikes provided there’s really no excuse not to explore Liverpool at its finest, get some much-needed fresh air and discover the best cycle routes around the city.

Beeswax wraps making session

Get your sleeves rolled up- we’re making beeswax wrap! It’s the versatility, plastic-free alternative and shape-shifting abilities (can hold any shape) for me. Come along and learn to make some useful and sustainable beeswax wrap. All materials will be provided.

Gardening with the Guild

Join the Green Guild team for one of their regular gardening afternoons around Central Teach Hub – where hedgehogs have been sighted!

The perfect activity to help you relax whilst planting, harvesting and maintaining the garden. You’ll also pick up some gardening skills, and get a chance to chat with fellow students. All materials are provided, we just need you!

Sessions take place weekly from 2-4pm, with the next gardening afternoon taking place on Wednesday 23 November.

Greenpeace talk

We are excited to welcome a Greenpeace speaker, Niall MacFadyen, onto campus to speak to students. He will be focusing on our topic of the month, food and the impact of the meat and dairy industry on the climate.

Plant pot painting at the Guild

Crafternoon Alert! Come along to our plant pot painting workshop- decorate your very own pot plant and show it off in your indoor garden. All resources will be provided and all levels are welcome!
