National Student Money Week is taking place between Monday, 27 February and Friday, 3 March, bringing together a range of initiatives to help students to budget and manage finances effectively.
The theme of this year’s campaign is ‘Navigate the Numbers: Coping with the Cost of Living’, which reflects the increasing pressure on students of managing the rising cost of living.
Our Money Advice and Guidance Team (MAG) are running advice stands focusing on savvy spending, budgeting and more throughout the week for students to access and have a friendly chat about:
- Wednesday, 1 March in the Chapel, Foresight Centre between 3pm – 7pm
- Thursday, 2 March in the Alsop Building, University Square between 12pm – 2pm
- Friday, 3 March in Liverpool Guild of Students between 12pm – 2pm
There will be a range of activities as well as prizes including slow cookers and recipe books up for grabs.
The National Association of Student Money Advisors (NASMA) offers lots of practical advice, tips and tools for students all year round including meal planners and interactive activities.
University Food Pantry
The University of Liverpool Food Pantry is set to launch this week, as part of National Student Money Week, to support those in our student community who may be experiencing food poverty. This forms part of a wide range of initiatives which have been introduced over the last few months to support students to manage the rising cost of living including a tripling of the University Hardship Fund to £1.5 million.
If you think you may benefit from access to our Food Pantry you can complete our self-referral form on our ‘managing the cost of living’ webpages . Once your form is received a member of our Money, Advice and Guidance Team (MAG) will contact you to provide further information. They may also invite you to meet one of the team to discuss alternative or further support depending on your circumstances.
If your application is accepted you will be able to visit the Food Pantry between 3pm – 7pm every Wednesday on campus.
Members of the Pantry will pay £5 per visit (with one visit per week) and will be able to choose 15 varied items including groceries and household products. This ensures our Pantry members can access essential goods for a small weekly membership fee.
