Module Registration 2023: How to make your choices

Library computers

Module registration for continuing undergraduate students opens at 10:00am BST on Tuesday, 2 May.

Here is an overview of everything you’ll need to know when selecting your module choices.

Mandatory and optional modules

You will be automatically pre-registered for required and mandatory modules for your programme, details of which will be available to view in the Module Registration Portal once the portal is live.

However, if you are a continuing undergraduate student, you are required to register your optional module (or subject) choices for the new academic year between Tuesday, 2 May at 10:00am BST and 11:59pm BST on Tuesday, 9 May 2023. The module registration system will allow you to choose a certain quota of optional credits based on your programme of studies.

If you are a Medicine, Veterinary, Dentistry or Health Sciences undergraduate student, you are not required to select modules online as part of this process.

Where do I complete module registration?

Module registration takes place online via the Module Registration Portal. You do not need to be on campus.

To access the Module Registration Portal once it is live:

  1. Login to the Student Intranet with your MWS username and password
  2. Via the Tools & Services section on the Student Intranet homepage, click Module Registration Portal.

Alternatively, access the Module Registration Portal directly via this link. You can login using your MWS username and password.

Remember, the module registration portal will only be available to access after 10:00am BST on Tuesday, 2 May 2023.

Please note, module registration is no longer available through Liverpool Life.

It is important you read through the Academic Advice provided at the top of the module registration webpage once you have logged in. This is information provided by your department and is specific to your programme.

Please note, the system is expected to be busy over the first few hours. If you are asked to wait while registering for your modules, please do not click back or log out until the system confirms completion of your request.

Removal of module caps

In response to student feedback and following consultation with recent Guild Officers, more than 80% of modules which have previously had number caps have now had those caps removed. We hope this will reduce anxiety around the module registration process, provide more time for you to consider your choices and allow you to secure your preferred options.

There are a small number of modules which still require a number cap and if this applies in your subject area your school will make this clear to you in advance of module registration day so you have plenty of time to consider both your preferred options, as well as your potential reserve choices.

If you are unable to register for your desired module, this will be clearly indicated. In this instance, it is important that you select alternative modules and continue to register for 120 credits. You will be able to add any full modules to your reserve list and rank all of your selections – both secured and reserve – in order of preference.

This will allow your intentions to be logged in the event that capped modules reach capacity, and may be used by your School should any spaces become available after module registration has closed.

Module preferences

As in previous years, should an optional module (which is still capped) be shown as full at the point of selection, you will need to make an alternative choice.

If you are interested in taking one or more of these capped modules please make use of the functionality within the module registration portal to indicate reserve choices and rank all of your selections – both secured and reserve – in order of preference.

This will allow your intentions to be logged and may be used by your School should any spaces become available on capped modules after module registration has closed.
