Seven spots for your Graduation shots

Graduation

Looking to make your Graduation Day as memorable as possible?

We want you to have the best backdrops imaginable as you enjoy your graduation with your family and friends.

Here’s a quick lowdown of the top spots to grab the best snaps and selfies.

And while we’ve got your attention, please don’t forget to use the hashtags #LivUniGrad, #Classof2023 and #TeamLivUni so we can see your fantastic graduation photos. We will try to share as many as we can on the University’s social channels.

  1. The Guild– walk away from graduation day with a traditional polaroid of your favourite photo. Just share your images on Instagram or Twitter and use the hashtag #LivUniGrad (make sure your account is set to public so we can see it!), then pop along to The Guild where you can visit a special Square Share booth to print out your favourite snap for a special memento of your day. Plus! Look out for two selfie walls.
  2. University Square (next to Reilly Building) – worried about missing out on the iconic Victoria Gallery and Museum (VG&M) shot? We’re not going to let a little bit of scaffolding get in the way of you getting your photo opp, so come along to University Square where we will have a special green screen set up to help you get the traditional VG&M photo with your loved ones. We know it’s not perfect but we hope it’s an acceptable second-best whilst the building work continues.
  3. The Quad – take a stroll through The Quad (behind the VG&M) to grab a snap with our large UoL letters. Whether you’re after a group shot or you want to go it alone, who doesn’t love an oversized letter to pose against!
  4. The Sports Centre – if you have booked photography through Ede and Ravenscroft, don’t forget to head over to the Sports Centre. If the queue is super long, pop back later but check with the Sales Desk for closing times before you lose your place in line. Please note that pre-booking is essential, we don’t want you to be disappointed if you’re turned away on the day as you haven’t booked in advance.
  5. Abercromby Square – we’re sure you’ve spent many an hour kicking back in Abercomby Square and it provides a beautiful backdrop for any photo, especially at this time of year. Expect a few props to help you get the pictures you want, like a 10ft gold canopy tree and odd giant deckchair! Just make sure you’ve got someone on hand to haul you out the deckchair when you’re done!
  6. Guild Walk – the stunning Paul Curtis mural, designed to celebrate Eurovision and calling for peace in Ukraine, is another good place to swing past. Featured on the side of The Guild, on Guild Walk, its hearts, hands and globe motif provide a vibrant and visual backdrop for your photos.
  7. Metropolitan Cathedral – the imposing steps of the Metropolitan Cathedral make an ideal photo opportunity. If you’re looking for a setting to take a photo of a large group of you, the steps give you plenty of space to play with.
