The good news is that there’s a whole host of choices at your disposal. We’re sharing just eight opportunities below, but believe us when we say there’s a Society out there for everyone!

So, whether you want to carry on an existing hobby, try something completely new, celebrate a faith or culture or simply meet new people and have some fun along the way, check out some of options below and get the full low-down on all Societies on The Guild’s website.

  1. Ballroom and Latin Society – why not cha-cha chance joining the Liverpool Ballroom and Latin Society. All abilities welcome, with a choice of dances to suit everyone from beginners to higher levels. Plus there’s an opportunity to represent the UoL in national competitions against other universities across the country.
  2. Cheese Society – you don’t need to know your mascarpone from your manchego or ricotta from your roquefort but it does help if you like the taste of cheese! If pub crawls and cheesy-themed cultural evenings are right up your street then this Society might just be for you.
  3. Film Society – if you’ve got a love of the big screen and you like the sound of weekly film nights then Film Society could well be the Harry to your Sally. Settle down to watch a range of film genres and there’s even filmmaking workshops for you to try your hand at creating your own content.
  4. Help the Homeless Society – supporting the plight of rough sleepers, refugees and asylum seekers, the Help the Homeless Society is one of our biggest societies. Its involved in active fundraising and volunteering, with the aim of making a difference to the lives of homeless people in Liverpool. And they’re on the lookout for more help.
  5. LGBT+ – whether you’re looking to campaign for change or you simply want to come together for social events in a fun and safe environment, the University’s LGBT+ Society is here for you. They run a variety of nights out and the year culminates in a big charity social that’s not to be missed!
