The Guild of Student currently have a range of volunteering opportunities on campus, in the local area and beyond.
Here are five opportunities available this month:
Christmas collection with Santa and his sleigh
It’s that time of year when Santa and his sleigh make their way around the Maghull area bringing joy to local residents and raising money for charity.
Volunteers are needed to walk with Santa around the local neighbourhood, playing music and wishing people Merry Christmas whilst collecting for a good cause!
Choir Volunteer
Volunteer to help with room set up, shopping, cleaning and supporting members at rehearsals. You’ll also get involved with gigs as part of the team, plus singing in the choir – although you don’t need to be a singer!
Choir Volunteers need to be able to commit to a minimum of two Wednesday evenings a month.
Knitters, Crocheters and Crafters
Calling all knitters, crocheters, arty or crafty people! If you have some spare time, Sefton 4 Good are looking for some small to medium pink hearts to be handmade in order to raise money for the charitable cause.
This is a really flexible role that can be done at home. You can make as many as you like and the team will sell the items to raise much needed funds. If you would like to get involved in selling the items you can do too!
Hospital Volunteers
Volunteers are needed by Clatterbridge Cancer Centre to provide an extra service for patients and visitors and help to enhance the quality of their experience.
As a volunteer you will provide a friendly warm welcome to patients, visitors, and guests and will assist with directions or enquiries.
Befriending Service Companion
Companionship for those feeling lonely and isolated. Each volunteer is matched with a person over 50 years of age and would visit or make contact on a regular basis.
The aim is to provide companionship and mental stimulation. This could include very ordinary activities such as having a friendly chat about everyday things; listening to music; looking at photographs and sharing what is going on in daily life; or going for walks or a trip out for coffee etc. if both client and volunteer are able.
