This year’s National HIV Testing Week starts next Monday, 5 February. Student Services has teamed up with Axxess Sexual Health to provide free HIV testing on campus for all students who want to find out their HIV status.
When: The Axxess Team will be on campus from 1-3pm on Wednesday, 7 February
Where: basement of the Alsop Building on University Square.
It’s important to know that the service is fully confidential and the tests are instant, meaning that you’ll get your results in a matter of seconds.
What you need to know about HIV testing
All of us have one of three HIV statuses; positive, negative, or untested. Most people are untested and National HIV Testing week is a great reminder of how important it is to know your own status to protect yourself and your sexual partners.
The friendly staff from the Axxess team will provide full advice for you if you’re worried about your HIV status, or if you just want to find out more about find out more about how you can protect yourself and others to prevent the transmission of HIV.
The Axxess Team can also give you advice about PrEP medication. This medication is designed to prevent the transmission of HIV and is available to anyone who may be exposed to the HIV virus. If you’re concerned that you might be at risk of contracting HIV, speak to the team to learn more about how to access these highly effective services.
