8 societies you need to know about

There are well over 200 societies at the Guild you can join. In this article we’ve rounded up eight you might enjoy.

Bake Soc

Even if you’re new to baking, everyone’s welcome at Bake Soc. The society bake together, go out to the pub, explore cafes and enjoy baking with likeminded people. Bake Soc have a cookie baking event on Monday, 4 March you can sign-up for.

Liver-Pool Society

If you enjoy 8-ball pool, find out more about the Liver-Pool Society. Their pool nights are open to people of all skill levels and they also offer pool-related activities, like football 8 ball pool, mini-game nights and inter-society tournaments.

Taylor Swift Appreciation Society

Share your love of Taylor with other Swifties at the Taylor Swift Appreciation Society.

Postgrad Society

The Postgrad Society welcomes students from all departments and host a range of events, from pub quizzes and board game nights, to film screenings and coffee mornings. They even have their own merch 😊

Creative Writing

Every kind of creative writer is welcome at the Creative Writing Society – whether you write screenplays, poetry, fanfiction, short stories or novels. The group meet up to talk about, share and practise their writing.

Liverpool Engineering Society

The Liverpool Engineering Society covers aerospace, architectural, avionics, civil, electrical, mechanical disciplines and industrial design. With formals, networking events, grad placement promotions and engineering sports teams, there’s a lot to get involved with.

Liv Yoga

Liv Yoga run classes with hand-picked professional teachers from around Liverpool who guide you through a range of Yoga styles. The sessions are open to everyone; from seasoned pros to complete beginners. The Society also host socials.

PhilSoc is a group for those interested in and studying philosophy. The group run events, film sessions, pub meet-ups and game nights.
