What’s on this December for Christmas?

As we head into December, there are plenty of festive activities you can get involved in both around campus and in Liverpool city centre.

Events on campus

Located on the eastern edge of campus, The Spine is playing host to four festive events that you are welcome to get involved in join. So, whether you want to wander over on your own, or grab a couple of friends to go with you, take a look at what’s on offer.

Christmas Choir performance
Wednesday, 4 December, 12.30-12.50pm and 1.05-1.20pm

The Choir With No Name will be performing a range of Christmas hits, all in aid of the homeless, so why not pop along for a special taste of Christmas? Buckets will be available if you are able to make a donation to the choir.

Christmas Wreath Making Workshop
Thursday, 5 December, 11.30am-1pm, £42 per person

Give your front door that personal touch this festive season with your own specially created fresh foliage door wreath. Your ticket includes all the decorations you will need to make your wreath, as well as refreshments whilst you work. This workshop will take place at Spaces at The Spine.

Christmas Table Centrepiece Workshop
Thursday, 5 December, 12.30-1.30pm, £25 per person

Create a beautiful display to dress your Christmas table at this centrepiece workshop. Your ticket price includes all the fresh foliage you will need to create your own design, plus tools and refreshments.

Christmas Carol Service

Monday 9, December, 6 pm

Liverpool Universities Christian Chaplaincy invite you to a festive carol service at St Philip Neri Church, Catherine Street, L8 7NL. Following the service join the Chaplaincy team for mulled wine and mince pies (non-alcoholic alternatives will be available.)

Wednesday, 11 December, 11am to 2pm

Get festive in Liverpool City Centre

Head to Liverpool ONE

Liverpool ONE is bringing the festive cheer daily, with extra special activities every Thursday! The sparkling reindeer and gorgeous decorations are back to light up the season.

Christmas on the Park runs from 8 November to 31 December, offering delicious food, treats, and drinks. Don’t miss Bar Hütte on Chavasse Park, where you can enjoy alpine-inspired drinks, cosy carol-oke huts, and a stunning Christmas tree. Book your session on the Liverpool ONE website.

Explore the Liverpool Christmas Markets

Set against the stunning backdrop of St George’s Hall, the Christmas Market on St George’s Plateau and William Brown Street is a must-visit. Browse unique gifts, jewellery, and crafts from local suppliers, and enjoy mulled wine at the Windmill or Bavarian bars.

Snap a selfie at the Church Street Tree

Don’t miss the beautiful Christmas tree on Church Street, perfect for a festive photo while you shop. Then, head to Bold Street for quirky boutiques, cosy cafés, and festive drinks.

Stroll through the Royal Albert Dock

The Royal Albert Dock transforms into a magical wonderland during the holidays, with twinkling lights, giant decorations, and a whimsical carousel. Perfect for a browse around the quirky gift shops and then unwind with a meal or drink at one of the Dock’s many restaurants and bars.

Visit Liverpool’s two Cathedrals

Christmas is a magical time to explore Liverpool’s two incredible cathedrals. Enjoy carol concerts, worship services, or simply light a candle and admire the nativity scenes in these breath-taking spaces. The Catholic Metropolitan Cathedral and the Anglican Liverpool Cathedral can be found at opposite ends of Hope Street.
