Looking for an overnight study space?

502 Teaching hub

A new overnight study space is now available for students, providing even more flexible study environments throughout the summer months.

Following student feedback, we are now offering dedicated overnight study spaces in the 502 Teaching Hub building until Sunday, 14 September 2025.

The space will be open from 6pm to 8am, seven days a week. Users can access the building through the automatic doors at the main entrance, next to the Sphinx. University ID cards must be carried at all times for security purpose and and users are asked to use the check-in facility on the SafeZone app.

The study space can accommodate up to 50 people on the ground floor with a further 200 study spaces in PC rooms and group study rooms. The group rooms can be booked out for three hours at a time via the reception desk.

Libraries summer opening hours

Throughout summer, the Harold Cohen Library (HCL) is open Monday to Friday 9am to 9pm and Saturday to Sunday 9am to 6pm with the Sydney Jones Library (SJL) open Monday to Sunday 9am to 6pm.

Looking ahead to the 2025-2026 academic year, we’re pleased to confirm that from September 2025, the SJL will be open from 8am to 10pm during term time, and the much-valued 24/7 library space will continue to be available in the HCL. Plus, for those crucial May assessments, the SJL will also offer overnight access.
