If you’re concerned about your own drug or alcohol use, or worried about someone you know, you can now speak to Change Grow Live (CGL) for free, confidential advice and support on campus.
Why this matters
It’s easy to think you’re on your own when you’re unsure how your use of substances, or someone else’s, might be affecting your life, studies or wellbeing.
These sessions provide a judgment-free space to talk, explore options, and get practical help. CGL is experienced in supporting people with drugs and alcohol issues, offering one-to-one help, group sessions, and specialist guidance
What you can expect
- You don’t need to make an appointment or commit ahead of time; you can just walk in.
 - You’ll find a friendly staff member from CGL ready to listen to your story, whether you want to cut down, stop, or simply understand where you stand
 - If it’s needed, they’ll guide you to further support, whether that’s specialist treatment, ongoing workshops, or peer-support.
 - Everything is fully confidential. CGL understands that everyone’s situation is different, and no personal information is recorded.

Next steps
You can find Change Grow Live at their stand on Guild Walk (near Union Brew) every other Thursday from 1–3pm. Remaining dates for semester one are:
- Thursday 13 November
 - Thursday 27 November
 - Thursday 22 December

Remember, there’s no need to book, just drop in and chat with a member of the team.
Final thought
You don’t have to wait until things feel “out of control” to talk to someone. It might simply be: “I want to look after my health and studies better,” or “I’m worried about a friend.”
Reaching out isn’t a sign of weakness, it’s a sign of strength. It takes courage to check in on how you’re doing. We are here if you need us.
