All residents living in three COVID-19 hotspots in Liverpool are being urged to get tested as soon as possible to break the chain of infection.
Cases are rising in the Riverside, Greenbank and Picton areas, accounting for around one in five of the 1,757 confirmed infections across the city over the past week. The latest data also shows that more than 70% of cases are now in those aged under 45.
It’s really important that we all continue to play our part in keeping ourselves and wider community safe, and residents in these areas are now being asked to:
- Get a rapid (lateral flow) COVID-19 test by this weekend
- If it is positive, self-isolate and follow it up with a confirmatory PCR test
- Get two doses of the COVID-19 vaccine – please note, if you receive a positive COVID-19 test, wait 4 weeks before you book a vaccine appointment.
Get a test
You can access rapid testing in the following ways:
- At our asymptomatic test centre on-campus – the site, in the Stanley Theatre (Liverpool Guild of Students) is open weekdays, 8.30am-5pm and Saturdays, 10am-4pm, and there is no need to book
- Pick up or order a home-test kit. You can pick these up at our on-campus test centre from a local pharmacy or order online
- At one of the city’s community testing sites
- Or, at one of Liverpool City Council’s Rapid Response Vehicle mobile testing units (locations are publicised on the council’s social media channels)
Please remember, if you develop any of the symptoms of COVID-19 you need to self-isolate and book a PCR test.
Tested positive?
If you test positive you should self-isolate immediately for 10 days and report your result to the University via our Case Management System. The data will be accessed by the University’s Contact Tracing Team, who will then be in touch to follow track and trace protocol. For the majority of students, reporting on this system will mean that you do not need to also contact your School or Department to advise them of your test results.
Students also need to update the COVID student intranet page to tell us that you are self-isolating. By letting us know you are isolating, we are then able to reach out and offer you support, even if you are not on campus.
You can find out more about what to do after you receive your test result on our COVID Safety webpages. If you have any questions please contact our COVID Advisory Service on 0151 795 9500 or contact us by email covort@liverpool.ac.uk
