Applications are now open for Time to Thrive – a new student competition in collaboration with the Liverpool Mayor’s Office that aims to boost Liverpool business.
The Liverpool Mayor, Joanne Anderson, wants innovative new ideas to help boost BAME businesses in the region, and has asked us to help get Liverpool students involved.
The Challenge
Research undertaken by the Liverpool Mayors Office has found BAME entrepreneurs often face additional barriers when seeking to develop and grow new businesses and enterprises in the Liverpool City Region (LCR).
We are looking for ideas for new initiatives, campaigns, organisations, programmes, products or services to support the success of BAME-owned business in the region.
Despite the fact that around 15% of the UK population belong to ethnic minority communities, only 5% of SME’s are led by teams where at least half of those at the top are from minority ethnic groups. In Liverpool the numbers are even lower.
Your task is to suggest new approaches that will help BAME business in the Liverpool City Region. The pitch must include your idea, identify the problems and barriers which you are trying to solve, and the impacts your idea will have.
The Prizes
The top 3 pitches will be given the opportunity to present their idea to the Liverpool Mayor, Joanne Anderson, who will pick the winner – with prizes as follows:
- 1st Place – £300 voucher
- 2nd Place – £200 voucher
- 3rd Place – £100 voucher
This is an amazing opportunity to build your CV, develop your skills, win prizes, and help to support the local community.
The competition is open to all students – from all degree programmes and any year of study.
The deadline to enter is 10pm on Friday 20 May.
