Rail strike information: 1, 5 & 8 October

Network Rail strikes

Students travelling to, from, and within the Liverpool City Region are urged to check public transport services before they travel, ahead of planned strike action by members of the RMT, TSSA, Unite and ASLEF unions.

Significant disruption on the rail network is expected across three dates in October on:

  • Saturday 1 October – strike action by the RMT, TSSA, Unite and ASLEF unions
  • Wednesday 5 October – strike action by the ASLEF union
  • Saturday 8 October – strike action by the RMT

Passengers are being warned to also expect disruption on the days that follow strike action (Sunday 2, Thursday 6 and Sunday 9 October) due to the knock-on impact of industrial action on shift patterns.

Please visit the Network Rail website for up to date industrial action information.

Whilst Merseyrail staff are not part of this industrial action, the service across Merseyside will be limited on strike days as it involves Network Rail staff who operate the signalling systems and provide maintenance support. You can find further information on the Merseyrail webpages.

Remember to plan your journeys ahead of time and check services by visiting Network Rail or your train operating company’s website before you travel.
