There is not long to register for Making an Impact 2023 – our annual series of development opportunities for all research and academic staff, and postgraduate research students (PGRs) to enhance their knowledge and skills in relation to research impact.
Embedding and understanding impact is a key skill to develop because it helps to keep researchers focused on the overall purpose – rather than the process – of research. Additionally, it helps researchers engage with different key partners and widen their focus to consider the full research cycle.
Making an Impact 2023 includes a mix of online and in-person opportunities have been specially curated with PGRs in mind to help develop this skill, including 1:1 career coaching sessions, tours of our amazing innovation facilities, masterclasses and workshops on collaborating with business and industry, public engagement and open research, and a social media bootcamp.
Please use the searchable programme to book your sessions.

Why should I engage with Making an Impact?
Making an Impact is highly flexible and participants will be able join numerous live sessions, which are supplemented with a rich catalogue of asynchronous resources. These can be found in our Virtual Delegate Pack, which includes resources from previous years of Making an Impact and will be continually updated with new content that is relevant to this years’ sessions from now until after the programme ends in June. This includes three new podcasts, covering how to collaborate with non-academic partners, how to design research with impact in mind and being creative in how you evaluate impact. Further content includes an inspirational playlist and Pocket Book of Top Tips that has been created by the facilitators and experts delivering many of the sessions this year.
Asynchronous resources can be accessed at any time and are linked to many of the live sessions throughout the Making an Impact programme.
