
Getting ready to start your next chapter at the University of Liverpool? We can’t wait to welcome you! To make settling in as smooth as possible, we’ve pulled together everything you’ll need to know about Welcome.
Before Welcome
- Read our list of essential things to do before arriving, including activating your IT account and starting your academic registration
- Make sure you complete the Liverpool Welcome Module on Canvas – you will have received an email inviting you to join
- Take a look at the Campus Map to start getting your bearings
- Have a look at our Student News site for all kinds of extra information about Welcome and the University
- Make sure you’ve downloaded the must-have My Liverpool App that keeps you connected with everything happening on campus., as well as the Timetables App where you can see your academic timetable.
- If you haven’t already, make sure to review your department’s Welcome information to find out where you need to be and when for their Welcome talks and other key activities.
During Welcome
Monday and Tuesday
- Your University Welcome Talks will take place on Monday and Tuesday in Mountford Hall (inside the Guild). You’ll have received an email with more information about this and you can also check information for your departmental welcome on their Welcome webpages.
- Make the most of the Wellbeing Zone on Abercromby Square, including live music and Meet the Teams from across the University.
Wednesday
Get ready for Bongo’s Bingo in the city where it all began, hosted by the Guild. If you looking for something more chilled, join our Victoria Galley & Museum team for a campus art tour, or head over to the Active Liverpool Sports open day to find out more about the facilities and memberships.
Thursday and Friday
These are big days on campus! On Thursday and Friday, check out the Sports Fair and the Guild Welcome Fair , both happening from 10am-6pm (with a quiet hour from 9-10am at the Guild Fair).
All week
- Confirm your engagement: If you don’t confirm your engagement, you won’t be a fully registered student at the University. Around 10 days before your programme starts, you’ll receive an email asking you to confirm your engagement. You can find more information on how to do this here.
- Collect your physical student ID card:
*If you’re a UK student who upload their ID card photo by Friday, 5 September, you’ll be able to collect your card from your school during Welcome Week – you can find details of when by checking your department’s Welcomer Week schedule on their welcome pages. If you did this after Friday, 5 September, you’ll need to wait four days after completion, then collect your physical card from the Here to Help Hub in the Central Teaching Hub.
*If you’re an international student who upload your ID card by Friday, 5 September, you can collect your card from the Here to Help Hub in the Central Teaching Hub during Welcome Week. You will have received an email before the start of your programme explaining how to book an appointment to collect your student ID card and provide your immigration documents. If you did this after Friday, 5 September, you’ll need to wait four days after completion and book an appointment to collect your card. - If you have a question during Welcome, the Here to Help Hub is the place to go. It’s based in the Central Teaching Hub and is open all week during Welcome Week, from 9am-4.30pm. International students requiring help with their visa should also visit the Here to Help Hub.
After Welcome
- Register with a GP if you haven’t already done so – we recommend you register with a GP in Liverpool. This will give you access to full medical care while you study and live here.
- Explore all that life on campus has to offer, including sports facilities, the Guild of Students, places to eat and the Victoria Gallery & Museum, and explore the wider city.
- Explore and book onto helpful KnowHow workshops to help you develop all the skills you’ll need for your course, assessments and exams.
