A new website has been launched to bring together information on a wide range of extra-curricular activities available at the University, into one easily accessible place.
Students can access the Liverpool Life website to find details of social activities, exchange programmes, courses, volunteering, placement and work opportunities that will enhance their time at university.
The site takes a fresh, engaging and holistic look at the many personal development and employability enhancing opportunities open to students, and the skills that can be developed both within and alongside their programme of study. It is intended to act as a point of reference for Academic Advisors, prospective and current students.
Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Student Experience, Professor Kelvin Everest, said: “Liverpool Life is about preparing our students for the future. It is about inspiring students to get the most out of their academic and extra-curricular experiences, and supporting them to become well-rounded graduates. University is a life changing experience that enriches peoples’ lives in so many ways. We want to ensure our students don’t limit their experience to the purely academic, and that they have every opportunity to broaden their horizons by engaging in the vast variety of activities that are open to them.”
The site went live to coincide with Open Day, with a major timetable of launch activities in planning for the start of the next academic session. Delivery of the website is the first phase of the project. The second phase will seek to develop a system which will enable students to keep a digital record of all they achieve during their time at University.
Dr Paul Redmond, Head of Careers and Employability, added: “Today’s graduate needs more than just a good degree. Employers are looking for additional evidence – something that adds value and gives them transferable skills. The University actively encourages students to participate in activities that will enrich their experience and help them grow personally, as well as academically. As well as being great fun, taking part in activities such as volunteering, sport or a student society can provide an interesting talking point and help students gain the edge over the competition. Liverpool Life will help our students recognise the value in everything they do and ensure they are able to clearly and confidently articulate what makes them stand out from the crowd.”
What a great idea!
