Students are being encouraged to take part in a national survey to investigate the influence of university on student aspiration.
The Think Future Study, which is being run by the 30% Club, is being conducted at more than 20 UK universities and intends to provide insight into how students aged 18-25 feel their university experiences shape and influence their aspirations for the future.
Those who take part will have the opportunity to be added to a prize draw to win £500.
Commenting on the survey Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Education, Professor Gavin Brown, said: “Have your say in the Think Future Study. Surveys like this are an important indicator of student aspiration and provide the University and potential employers with a wealth of data that will help us to improve the transition from student life to the workplace.”
The survey, sponsored by accounting giant KPMG, was piloted at Cambridge University as the Students’ Aspiration Survey in January this year, and revealed that female students are significantly less confident than men in their ability to advance their chosen career to a senior level.
The survey is now being rolled out more widely to provide a national outlook on the roles university academia, culture and career provision play in determining students’ perceptions of workplace culture, and the differing confidence levels between men and women.
It will also provide recommendations to universities about how increase the confidence and career aspirations of students as well as recommendations to businesses on how to attract students by addressing concerns that may put them off entering certain professions.
Vice President of Liverpool Guild of Students, Emma Sims, added: “We’re really excited to see the results of this survey. This data collection will provide huge potential for both our University and businesses to support students into a workplace with equal career goals, regardless of their gender.”
The survey is now live and will remain open until 27th November 2015. Students can take part, and be in with a chance of winning £500, by visiting: www.kpmg.com/30pcthinkfuture.
The results will be published in January 2016.
