Looking for a challenge? Why not get involved in Wellbeing Week by taking part in Sport Liverpool’s campus 5k from home!
Each year Sport Liverpool organises an annual campus 5km run and walk as part of the University’s Wellbeing Week. Due to the current Covid-19 pandemic we can’t host the event on campus so we’d like you to get involved from home.
All you need to do is complete your 5km run or walk at home or near to where you live on Wednesday 29 April and post your finished time and/or selfie on social media with the hashtag #Campus5KatHome. Make sure you tag @SportLiverpool on Instagram, Facebook or Twitter.
You can post your map from Strava, your smart watch, fit bit or any other device that saves your run. No tech? No problem! Just post, tweet or comment and let us know you joined in!
This week we are looking at each of the NHS recommended five steps to wellbeing and today the focus is ‘being physically active’.
Being active is not only great for your physical health, but also for your mental wellbeing. There is a lot of evidence to suggest that what you do with your body can have a big effect on your mind. It is thought, for example, that the chemical changes in your brain brought on by physical activity can help to positively change your mood.

Get support if you need it
COVID-19 is having an impact on everyone’s daily lives. By following the guidelines on social distancing and staying at home you’re helping to protect yourself, family, NHS, and community, but a consequence might be that you feel isolated, worried, and anxious, or you could be concerned about your health, or the health of others.
In these uncertain times it’s important to take care of your mind as well as your body, and to make sure you get any support that you need.
Student Services (including Counselling and Mental Health Advisory Service, and Student Welfare Advice & Guidance) will be providing enhanced support through phone and email between 9am and 5pm each day. Click here for contact details.
Students can also access the Big White Wall 24 hours a day if you need additional support.
