Events and activities to take part in this week: Staying active and healthy

Staying active and healthy during self-isolation or lockdown is really important in maintaining your overall wellbeing.

Remember, unless you are isolating you can still get outdoors, whether that be to go for a run, or a walk with your flatmates – so if you can, make sure you dedicate time in your daily routine to take in some fresh air.

This week we’re bringing you the best activities designed to help you stay healthy and active during lockdown.

Please remember that if you ever feel like you need support or advice, our Student Support team is here for you. If you’re self-isolating and need help, email Student Services on: advice@liverpool.ac.uk.

Athletic Union (AU) membership

Where allowed within the new rules, the Athletic Union (AU) sports are continuing. This includes outdoor sports based at Wyncote, Greenbank Playing Fields and COVID-secure community-based facilities within the Liverpool City Region.

Athletic Union Executive Committee President Amy Hughes and Vice President Ohio Orumen have been working hard to make sure all those in the AU are up-to-date with the latest arrangements.

Students interested in sports are being encouraged to connect with the AU and get involved despite the current restrictions. Many of the activities are still running and it is a great way to meet like-minded people, expand your friendship group and get active.

Four things you can do today:

  1. Connect with @SportLiverpool & @LivUni_AU for updates on clubs you can join and information on the gym and facilities.
  2. Watch our ‘Introduction to Sport at University of Liverpool’ video on Instagram or on Canvas under the Sport and Wellbeing page.
  3. Check out the Sport Liverpool website for the A-Z on all the sports clubs you can join and how to get involved in campus leagues.
  4. Make sure your friends, course mates and flatmates have all done the same!

If you have any questions about the AU you can contact the team via Instagram or on a.hughes12@liverpool.ac.uk or o.orumen@liverpool.ac.uk.
