COVID testing available for those staying in Liverpool

For students who are staying in Liverpool over the winter break and need to take a COVID test the following arrangements are in place.

With symptoms:

If you are experiencing symptoms you can book a test quickly and easily at the University’s COVID test centre on campus. The ‘with symptoms’ test centre will be open on selected dates over the winter break. See opening hours and further information here.

If you need a test during the close period, you can access one via the Liverpool City Region testing programme.

Without symptoms (asymptomatic):

Our ‘no symptoms’ test centres will close on Friday, 18 December and re-open at the Sports Centre from Saturday, 2 January 2021, and at Greenbank from Monday, 4 January 2021.

During this period you can access a test via the Liverpool City Region testing programme. There are several testing sites across the city. There is no need for an appointment, but we recommend you check each site’s opening hours over the festive period here. If you can’t get to a testing site you can request a postal testing kit by ringing 119.

Controlling the spread of COVID-19

Regular testing is a really important measure in the control of COVID-19. If you are in Liverpool over the winter break, we encourage you to go for a free COVID-19 test, even if you don’t have symptoms. It only takes a few minutes.

The more of us that get tested, the quicker we can stop the spread and get back to doing the things we enjoy.

However, it is important to remember, that testing is just one of a range of public health measures in place to control the spread of COVID-19. Please do continue to keep in mind that the three key steps we can take as individuals, even if we receive a negative test result – wearing a face covering, regularly washing our hands, and maintaining a safe distance from anyone from another household – make an enormous difference.

If you feel unwell and think you have at least one symptom of COVID-19, it’s really important that you immediately self-isolate. Students must also notify the University that you are self-isolating. Further details and contact information can be found on our Have Symptoms webpage.
