Whether you are self-isolating, or just staying in more during lockdown – we know it can be tricky to find things to do to keep busy!

Each week we’re rounding up some of the best virtual events, activities and careers support you can access from home. Don’t forget to download the ‘My Liverpool’ app to view all events and create your own personalised planner.

1. Male Mental Health Forum

We recognise that mental health can be difficult to talk about at the best of times, and even more so for men. As part of her work on Male Mental Health, Vice President Ffion will be hosting a second Forum specifically for male students (including trans and/or non-binary students who identify as male some or all of the time). This event is planned and delivered with support from the President and Vice President of the Athletic Union (AU).

2. No sweat public speaking: own your voice

Learn how to overcome any fears of public speaking, and communicate in your own authentic and creative way.

3. The power of sleep

A session about the power of sleep, delivered by Transform Lives Company.

Come along to a session all about discovering how sleep can set up a great day, and learn some practical tips for a good night’s sleep and develop a healthy routine.

4. Live joint journaling workshop

The need for self-awareness, resilience and self-compassion is more prominent than ever. This online session from Mindless Academy will show you how to incorporate journaling and meditation into our daily routines, to have positive effects on our mental, physical and emotional wellbeing.

5. TeaTalk

Grab a hot drink, cosy spot and fire up your phone or laptop – it’s time to make some zoom BFFs from the comfort of your own living space.

Test your zoom quiz knowledge and storm to victory at a virtual pub quiz like no other!

7. The Firestarters – Lifestyle & Culture

Firestarters is an exciting and innovative virtual festival designed to ignite a million conversations and raise money for leading mental health charity Rethink Mental Illness and the youth support charity UK Youth.

Join us for week 3 which focuses on Lifestyle & Culture. Here are just some of the topics:

8. Commuter Student Virtual Pub Quiz

9. Halls’ Student Forum

Whether you’re a first year or a final year, living in halls this year has been very different. With new social distancing rules, lockdowns and virtual Halls’ socials, we want to hear about your experiences of living in University of Liverpool Halls of Residence.

10. One Community, One Future challenge

A new competition for students in partnership with Transform Society UK. Work on a project to benefit students, the University, and the local community. Learn all about complex societal issues and develop the skills employers that look for in future leaders.

This short online career session will cover the common mistakes job applicants make, and provide you with some practical tips to strengthen your application and suggestions for further research.

Join us for a short and calming meditation using breathwork. Use this time to wind down the mind so you can think with more clarity and release any stress or anxiety.
